Clothing is one of the most common possessions and also one of the most universal concepts, as almost all sentients wear some form of attire. The style of clothing is influenced by cultural, racial, and environmental factors, as well as the personal preference of the individual wearing the clothes. These styles can vary from planet to planet, or even city to city, and often subject to change depending on the latest fashions and designers.

There have been many designers and textile manufacturers throughout the the course of Galactic history, each responsible for creating a wide range of clothing. This has included anything from fighter and survival apparel, to expensive Shimmersilk garments and basic tunics. A number of these manufacturers have even achieved galactic renown, such as Dervdisi, Krongbing Interstellar Fashions, and Kamperdine Clothing Specialists.

The common factor with most clothing manufacturing is the primary use of some kind of fabric. However, even that varies due to the sheer amount of viable natural and synthetic materials in existence. Furthermore, it is possible for a piece of clothing to be reinforced or adorned with other materials, such as metals, minerals or jewels, and still be classified as an item of clothing. Regardless of these extensive and near infinite differences, there is little confusion amongst the galactic public as to what constitutes clothing, mainly because nearly every culture has developed some form of it.
