The C4-CZN is a tripod-mounted heavy weapon system. It is one of the few such weapons to be ion-based and thus disruptive rather than destructive. This makes it highly attractive to both police forces, needing to capture vehicle occupants alive (and droid targets operational), and paramilitary and guerilla forces, wishing to recover their enemies’ equipment. It is less often found in the hands of an actual military, for whom ion weaponry is generally of secondary importance.

A well-designed weapon, the C4-CZN has a high energy output and a stable mounting. These elements help alleviate the inherent inaccuracy of ion weapons caused by their particle make-up, which can actually bounce off of dust particles in the air, rather than vaporizing them as do typical energy weapons. Perhaps the only oversight in the weapon’s design is the inadequate cooling system, resulting in a cyclical rate somewhat lower than comparable armament.

Despite the alarming frequency with which barrels and particle accelerators need to be replaced, the C4-CZN remains a favourite because its streamlined construction means that such replacements are quickly done and parts are easy to come by. This has resulted in the nickname ‘four seasons,’ or a weapon that is ready to operate at all times.
